To seduce, and to enjoy the sheer self-indulgent pleasure of seduction itself. To live life as if it’s a joyful symphony. Such is the philosophy of this spontaneous, fulfilled, hedonistic woman. To create this free and independent woman’s fragrance, Jean-Paul Guerlain took inspiration from the challenge Marie-Antoinette set the Count of Artois when she asked him to build the Château de Bagatelle in under 64 days.

Described as a folly, the château’s gardens have become a symbol of romanticism.
From this small island-like paradise emerges a sparkling, luminous bouquet of love filled with neroli, roses and white flowers pierced with bewitching tuberose.
A wildly seductive and flirtatious folly filled with joie de vivre.

A LEGEND OF HEDONISTIC LOVE, RADIATING WITH NEROLI, TUBEROSE AND JASMINE

A bright, luminous and airy essence, Jardins de Bagatelle is a sparkling fragrance.
At its heart you’ll find a veritable bouquet of white flowers ( neroli, jasmine, gardenia ) celebrating the joyfulness of life, while the base note centres around the poisonous tuberose flower and woody notes.

Neroli.
Neroli essence is obtained by distillibg orange blossom. It is a fresh floral with green and citrus accents.

Tuberose.
Hand-picked mainly in India and too delicate to travel, tuberose flowers are made into a concrete and an absolute on site. As an absolute, tuberose reveals floral, sweet and spicy facets.

Jasmine.
Jasmine grandiflorum absolute comes mainly from India. First the flowers are processed to create a concrete before being transformed into an absolute. Picked at dawn, jasmine grandiflorum, brings a green, fruity jasmine note to fragrance.

A LEGENDARY BOTTLE

Designed by Raymond Guerlain in 1912, its iconic “ inverted heart ” bottle is underscored with graceful scrolls typical of Art Nouveau. Its avant-garde stopper, in the form of a hollowed heart, evokes the delicate romanticism of this perfumery masterpiece and represented a real technical feat at the time.

HOUSE SECRETS

After agreeing to a challenge set by Queen Marie-Antoinette, the Comte Artois, brother of Louis XVI, took on the feat of building a small château in the Bois de Boulogne near Paris in just 64 days.
Dream became reality for Marie-Antoinette and the Château de Bagatelle was built.
Described as a “folly”, its gardens became known for being one of the most romantic places in 18th and 19th century Dandy’s Paris. A small, paradise-like haven, close to 700 rose varieties still grow there today.
